Instead of navigating to a separate page to view candidate details, the new pipeline uses a slide-out Candidate Drawer. Clicking on any candidate's name opens this drawer from the right side of the screen — giving you full access to their information, documents, and communication history without leaving the pipeline view.
In this article, we will cover:
- What's in the Candidate Drawer
- Starting a Conversation- from the Applied Stage
- Starting a Conversation- from the In-Progress Stage
- Communicating from the Candidate Drawer

What's in the Candidate Drawer
The Candidate Drawer is your central hub for everything related to a specific candidate. From the drawer you can:
- View all submitted documents — resume, application, survey responses, and any others
- Review the past applications the candidate has submitted to your business
- Review messages and continue communication with the candidate
- See tags, comments, and recent activity
- Take actions such as advancing, declining, or moving between stages
- Navigate between candidates using the arrow buttons without closing the drawer
Starting a Conversation — From the Applied Stage
From the Applied stage, you can initiate communication with a candidate in several ways:
- Click on the candidate's name to open the Candidate Drawer
- Click the Message button
- Click the text message (SMS) icon or envelope (email) icon directly on the candidate card.
Starting a Conversation — From the In Progress Stage
From the In Progress stage, you can send a quick message without opening the full drawer. Click the dropdown menu on a candidate card and select Message for a shortcut to send an email or text message.
Selecting Message will open the Candidate Drawer directly to the communication tab, where you can choose email or phone.
Communicating from the Candidate Drawer
Once the drawer is open, you will see the candidate's Personal Info section, which displays their email address and phone number. You can click on either to start a message in that channel.
You can also select New Message to open the communication form directly.
Sending an Email or SMS
The communication form lets you:
- Toggle between Email and SMS — switch between channels depending on how you want to reach the candidate
- Type a custom message — write your own text from scratch
- Select from templates — choose a pre-built message template for common scenarios like interview scheduling, application acknowledgment, or next steps
- Use dynamic fields — templates support dynamic fields such as candidate name, company name, and job title that auto-populate when the message is sent
Reviewing Message History
From any stage, the Candidate Drawer lets you toggle between Messages, Documents, and Applications submitted by the candidate.
Within the Messages tab, you can:
- See all messages sent to and from the candidate
- Filter messages by type (email or SMS) and by status (sent, delivered, opened, etc.)
- Click on any individual message to review its full contents
- Select Send Message to reply within the same message thread
- Select Back to Messages to return to the full message list
