The In Progress stage is the biggest change in the new pipeline. It's where candidates go once you've decided to move them forward from Applied, and it's where the bulk of your hiring work takes place — interviews, background checks, assessments, offer letters, and more.
In this article, we will cover:
Column View
Previously, candidates had individual cards with all hiring steps listed, which made it hard to understand where each candidate stood and what action to take next. The new design uses a column view: your hiring steps are displayed as columns across the top, and each candidate appears in the column for their current hiring step.
Sub-Statuses
Each candidate in the column view shows a sub-status so you know exactly what needs to happen next:
- Not Started – The candidate has been placed in a step, but no action has been taken yet (e.g., a background check has not yet been ordered). For interviews, this shows as Not Scheduled.
- Pending Candidate Action – You've sent something to the candidate and are waiting on them to respond or complete an action.
- Pending Completion – The step is in progress and waiting for a third party to complete (e.g., the candidate has consented to a background check and it's being processed). For interviews, this shows as Scheduled at [date & time].
- Awaiting Decision – The step is complete (e.g., interview scored) and the candidate is ready to be advanced or declined.
Taking Action from the Drawer
Clicking on a candidate in the In Progress stage opens the Candidate Drawer directly to the relevant hiring step with the next action ready. You don't need to navigate to a separate page.
Scheduling an Interview
From the drawer, you can send the candidate a scheduling link, select a specific time to send, or manually add the interview details.
Ordering Reference Checks/ Testing Services
You can order or view results from reference checks or testing orders from the in-progress tab. Click on the candidate's name and then select " Order Reference Checks" or "Order More Tests" to select your service and go through the checkout process. If completed reports are available, you will also be able to view them in the candidate drawer.
Drag and Drop
You can drag and drop candidates between hiring step columns to quickly move them through the process. This is especially useful if you prefer to manually track candidate progress without using integrated scheduling or ordering features.
You can also complete a step at any time and work on multiple steps simultaneously — candidates are not locked into a linear progression.
