Candidate search can be a powerful recruiting tool. Whether you are trying to find a candidate quickly or looking to optimize past applicants for current openings, candidate search can make this process a light lift.
In this article we will cover:
Accessing Candidate Search
To quickly search for an individual in your account, click on the 'Candidates' search field at the top of your Hireology account. As you type, you will see matching results appear and can select the correct name when you see it to be taken to the individual's preview page.
On the preview page, you can see the person's contact information, resume, recent activity, and any job(s) they've applied for. For more details, click on the person name to see jobs they have applied to, commends/tags/star rankings, an overview of their documents, details of the activities taken on them, edit their information or add them to another job.
If you don't see what you're looking for, you can click 'See all results' which will take you to the Candidate Search experience outlined in the next section.
Using Candidate Search
Candidate Search is a way to conduct a more advanced search. This can be helpful if you are not sure who you're looking for or if you would like to perform a search for a list of candidates with specific details or keywords on their resume (e.g. candidates who applied within a certain date range, or feature key skills or experiences on their resume).
To start, click 'Candidates' in the left navigation. On the search page, you can search for someone by name, email address, or phone number with just 2 characters. Search resumes by keyword, or generate a list using various filters- now including filtering by disposition code and tag.
The new search experience supports the use of AND and OR keywords along with parentheses. Using keywords like “(Roberts OR burz) OR Adams” would prompt a return of any rows with a match to “Roberts”, “burz”, or “Adams”.
Click on an applicant or candidate's name from the results to be taken to the individual's preview page. On the preview page, you can see the person's contact information, resume, recent activity, and any job(s) they've applied for. For more details, click on a job the applicant or candidate applied for to view their complete profile.
Best Practices
While search tools can be a fast way to locate and take action on a specific applicant or candidate, it can also function as a strategic tool to source qualified candidates.
Tags: Tag candidates as you review them with specific keywords. Tags are searchable and will allow you to easily locate quality applicants already in your database.
-
Example: Sales experience, Silver medalist (runner up candidate) , Alumni (former employee)
Disposition Code: Assign Disposition codes to applicants or candidates when you decline them from your hiring process. While this population may not have been a good fit for the role they applied for at that time, they may be eligible to be considered in the future or for another open role. Disposition codes are now searchable and will allow you to easily locate applicants already in your database.
- Example: Applied after offer was accepted, Accepted another job
Resume Search: Search for job titles similar to the role you are trying to fill.
- Example: Looking to fill a management roll? Enter keywords like management, manager, leader, lead, head, supervisor
