Hireology partners with automated reference check vendor, SkillSurvey, to give you an easy, hands-off way to check your candidate's references. SkillSurvey captures references anonymously enabling references to respond candidly and without liability.

Ordering a SkillSurvey Reference Check
To begin the automated reference check process, navigate to the 'Candidates' tab.
Locate the candidate within the job itself then click the 'Send' button on the References tab.
Next, you'll need to confirm a few things:
Candidate Contact Information - Confirm that the candidate's name and email address are accurate. These fields will automatically populate with the information the candidate enters upon applying but we realize typos can sometimes happen so we give you the opportunity to update.
Required Number of References - Choose the minimum number of references you would like the candidate to enter. The candidate will be able to enter in as many references as they would like, this number tells them the minimum they are required to enter. It is best practice to require the same number of references for all candidates applying for the same position.
Status Notifications - Review and confirm who should receive updates on the reference check process as the candidate moves through the steps. You may add multiple email addresses, separated by a comma.
Select 'Next' in the bottom right corner to move to 'Select Template'.
Next, you will need to select a template for the survey. Each survey template has a unique set of questions that are role specific. For instance, if you are looking for an Account Manager, you will not send the Doctor template because the questions will not be relevant.
Use the search bar to narrow down your search results.
Press 'Select' next to the template you wish to order for that candidate, then click the 'Next' button to proceed to the last and final step.
Note: It is a good practice to use the same template for all candidates applying for the same position.
The last step is to confirm the order. Review that everything you have selected up until this point is correct and if so, click 'Complete Order' to finish the process and send your candidate the SkillSurvey.
After the order is confirmed, your candidate will receive an email from email@example.com and you will see the Reference check status as 'Pending'.
As the candidate takes action and the reference process progresses, you will be able to see real-time status updates in your Hireology account.
If the candidate opted into SMS, they will then be able to submit their references via a text message if they choose to do so.
