Overview
With our updated search engine technology, search results should appear more relevant. The search engine has been improved to understand that a single candidate may apply to multiple jobs with slightly different names, email addresses, or phone numbers. Previously, searches would only find matches against the latest job application by the person. Now, it finds matches against any job application and shows you the one that matches the search criteria.
To start, click 'Candidates' in the left navigation.
Name Searches
Searches require a minimum of 2 letters in any keyword to work. Keywords are matched against any text in the first or last name of the candidate. Nickname search is also supported. For example, when searching for 'Bobby' you can expect to see results including the name 'Robert'.
Email Searches
Emails can also be searched with a minimum of 2 characters (letters and numbers) and the system will search anywhere in the email address for those characters. Previously, emails ending with numbers were difficult due to the search engine and would sometimes return incorrect results. This has been corrected in the new search engine.
Phone Searches
Phone numbers can be searched using a minimum of 2 characters. Dashes and parentheses are filtered out of the search criteria to leverage only the numbers. As with email and name, the numbers will produce search results if the number sequence is anywhere within the phone number.
Resume Keyword Searches
We’ve removed the separate search boxes and consolidated resume keywords into the same search keyword box as name, email, and phone number. Our resume parsing engine reviews a resume and extracts the keywords and skills for us to search against. This does mean that a skill like “blacksmith” would still return in search queries for “smith”.
Disposition Code Filtering
Filtering candidates by assigned disposition code has been a desired feature. We are introducing the ability to filter search results by disposition codes. These only apply to Inactive candidates, so applying an incorrect status filter will cause no results to be returned.
Complex Combinations
The new search experience supports the use of AND and OR keywords along with parentheses. Using keywords like “(Roberts OR burz) OR Adams” would return any rows with a match to “Roberts”, “burz”, or “Adams”.
