Please note: AI Match is currently a beta feature. Functionality, settings, and availability may change before general release.
AI Match helps your team quickly identify the strongest candidates for an open role by matching their resume and application against a set of job-specific attributes that you define directly in the job description.
Each attribute includes a name and a prompt that help the system understand what to look for and how to evaluate candidates against your hiring criteria. For every candidate, AI Match identifies which attributes were Found, Missing, or Unclear. Candidates with the highest number of matched attributes are automatically surfaced to the top of your pipeline, helping your team prioritize the strongest matches first.

AI Match Permissions
Who can configure AI Match?
- All users who "Can open new jobs" or "Edit existing jobs" can configure AI Match attributes. If your organization has job approvals or job requisitions enabled, only publishers are eligible to configure AI Match attributes.
Who can view AI Match results?
- Any user who "Can view all jobs" and "Can view all candidates." Alternatively, any user assigned as a hiring manager on a job or part of the hiring team.
Who can override attribute results?
- Any user who can view AI Match results can also manually override them.
Configuring AI Match for a Job
AI Match is configured at the individual job level during the Job Description step when creating or editing a job. You can add up to 10 attributes per job.
Open or Edit a Job
On the Job Description step of the open/edit a job flow, scroll to the "Configure AI Match" section.
Generate AI Suggestions
To generate AI-powered attribute suggestions, your job description must contain at least 500 characters (excluding whitespace).
Click "Generate AI Suggestions" to create a starting list of attributes based on your job description.
- If you have fewer than 5 attributes, suggestions will fill the list up to 5. If you already have 5 or more, suggestions will fill up to the 10-attribute maximum.
- Suggestions are appended to any attributes you've already added — they do not replace existing ones.
- Review each suggestion and edit the name or prompt before saving if needed.
Add Custom Attributes
If the AI suggestions don't cover a qualification that matters for the role, you can write your own.
Click "Add Custom Attribute" and enter an attribute name and a prompt describing what AI Match should look for. Be specific — a vague prompt is harder to evaluate accurately against a resume or application.
Note: Prompts let you go beyond keyword matching. Use them to define what an attribute actually means for your role. Add detail like years of experience, team size, or transferable skills from adjacent industries to get more precise results.
Review for EEO Compliance
When you click "Save & Continue" or "Save & Exit," AI Match scans your attributes for language that may create legal exposure under EEO and Title VII guidelines. Flags appear in two levels:
- Yellow warning — this attribute may create compliance risks if it is not directly related to the requirements of the role. You can review and choose to edit it or proceed as-is.
- Red error — the attribute contains a clear EEO concern and must be updated before you can save and continue.
Note: EEO flags are designed to help you identify language that may require additional review. They are not legal advice. If you have questions about compliance requirements, consult your legal team.
Save Your Configuration
Click "Save & Continue" or "Save & Exit" to confirm your configuration. Your attributes are now saved and AI Match will use them to evaluate candidates for this job.
Note: If you save this job as a template, the configured AI Match attributes will automatically be included. This will make future job setups faster and more consistent.
Understanding the EEO Compliance Check
To help promote fair and compliant hiring practices, AI Match automatically reviews your attribute names and prompts each time you save a job's AI Match configuration. This review is designed to identify language that may raise EEO or Title VII concerns before it is used to evaluate candidates.
By surfacing potential issues early, the EEO Compliance Check helps you create attributes that are more closely aligned with legitimate job requirements and reduces the risk of using criteria that could be inappropriate for hiring decisions.
EEO flags are displayed in two levels:
- Yellow Warning: The attribute contains language that may present compliance risks if it is not directly related to the requirements of the role. You can review and update the attribute or acknowledge the warning and proceed.
- Red Error: The attribute contains language that may raise significant EEO concerns. The attribute must be updated or deleted before the job can be saved.
Note: The EEO Compliance Check is designed to help identify language that may require additional review. It does not constitute legal advice and should not be relied upon as a substitute for legal counsel. If you have questions about compliance requirements, consult your legal team.
Reviewing AI Match Results in Your Pipeline
AI Match runs automatically when a candidate applies to a job with configured attributes. If a candidate updates their resume or application, match results refresh automatically. A manual rematch is only needed when attributes are edited after the initial run or when a candidate is added to the job manually.
Candidates are automatically sorted by the number of matched attributes, helping the strongest matches rise to the top.
Expanding a candidate card in the pipeline provides a detailed breakdown of each configured attribute, including:
- Whether the attribute was Found, Missing, or Unclear
- Any attributes that require rematching
AI Match Statuses
- Found: AI identified evidence for this attribute in the candidate's application or resume.
- Missing: AI did not identify evidence for this attribute. We recommend reviewing the candidate manually before making a decision.
- Unclear: AI found partial, conflicting, or ambiguous evidence for this attribute. Review recommended.
- Needs Rematch: The job attributes were updated after the last AI Match run. Re-run AI Match to refresh results.
- Unmatched: AI Match has not yet run for this candidate. Run AI Match to review results.
- Not Available: AI Match is unavailable for this candidate because they applied before consent language was enabled.
Reviewing AI Match Results in the Candidate Drawer
Click a candidate's name or any attribute to open the Candidate Drawer and see a full breakdown of their AI Match results in the Attributes Checklist.
The Attributes Checklist provides a centralized view of how a candidate aligns with the role's qualifications, making it easier to evaluate fit and make informed hiring decisions. Because the checklist is visible to all users with access to the candidate, it also serves as a shared source of truth throughout the hiring process, helping hiring teams stay aligned.
Reviewing Evidence
You can review the supporting evidence identified by AI to validate the match and confirm accuracy. Evidence may include:
- Multiple supporting quotes for the same attribute
- Evidence from more than one source, such as both the resume and application
Click the "View" button on any evidence snippet to open the corresponding document and jump directly to the highlighted section where the evidence was identified.
You can also manually override Found, Missing, and Unclear statuses at any time during the candidate review process to ensure accuracy and alignment with your hiring decisions.
When to Re-Run AI Match Manually
In some scenarios, you may need to manually re-run AI Match to refresh candidate results.
Candidates will display a Needs Rematch status when:
- Attribute names or prompts are updated
- New attributes are added after the initial match run
Candidates will display an Unmatched status when:
- They are transferred into a job from another role
- They are added to a job using the "Add Existing Candidate" workflow
- They applied to the job before AI Match attributes were configured
Candidates with either status require a new AI Match evaluation before updated results can be viewed. This can be done from the Attribute Checklist section of the Candidate Drawer.
Using AI Match Responsibly
AI Match is built to support your hiring process by helping your team evaluate candidates against job-related criteria faster and more consistently. Every hiring decision stays with you. AI Match will not automatically advance or reject candidates.
Here's how we approach responsible use:
What AI Match does:
- Evaluates candidates against job-related criteria that you define
- Screens attributes for language that may conflict with Title VII and other EEO guidelines before a job goes live
- Blocks high-risk attributes from being saved until the issue is resolved
- Ensures candidates are informed upfront that AI-assisted review may be part of the hiring process by displaying an "AI Usage Notice" in the application
- Maintains an audit trail of all AI-generated results and manual overrides, including who made changes and when
- Surfaces evidence from the candidate's resume and application so you can see exactly what informed each result
What AI Match doesn't do:
- Make hiring decisions — results are meant to support hiring decisions, but the final call always stays with you
- Evaluate or factor in protected characteristics such as age, race, gender, religion, national origin, or disability status
- Automatically advance or reject candidates based on results
- Use candidate data to train models or share it outside your organization's account
We recommend working with your legal or HR team to ensure your attribute configuration aligns with your organization's policies and applicable regulations.
Candidate Consent
AI Match results are available only for candidates who applied on or after June 1, 2026. This date reflects when candidate consent language was added to the application process. A candidate's application submission date serves as the record of consent.
Candidates who applied before June 1, 2026 will display a "Not Available" status in the AI Match section of their profile and cannot be evaluated by AI Match. However, you can still assess these candidates manually by updating attribute statuses directly within the Attributes Checklist.
AI Usage Notice Shown to Candidates
Candidates applying on or after June 1, 2026 are presented with the following notice during the application process:
AI Usage Notice
This employer may use artificial intelligence ("AI") to assist in evaluating candidates and making hiring decisions. To the extent the employer is using AI, it will be used to analyze a candidate's video screening interview and to consider the candidate's fitness for a position. The AI used to assist in evaluating candidates and making hiring decisions will review a candidate's profile for employer-identified characteristics and may be used to conduct screening interviews. In the instance that AI will be used to conduct screening interviews, the AI will transcribe the interview and assist in analyzing applicant responses, including to match to employer-identified characteristics. The employer is not replacing human decision-making with AI and humans will be reviewing and ultimately making decisions relating to a candidate's application. As a candidate, you acknowledge and consent to the use of AI by employer in this manner.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can multiple team members override attribute results?
A: Yes. Any user with access to the candidate record can review attribute results and submit manual overrides. All overrides are logged with the reviewer’s information.
Q: Why can't I see AI Match results for a candidate?
A: AI Match results may not be available for a candidate for several reasons:
- The candidate applied before June 1, 2026. Candidates who applied before AI consent language was added to the application process are not eligible for AI Match evaluation. These candidates can still be reviewed manually in the Attributes Checklist.
- AI Match attributes have not been configured for the job. Navigate to the job's AI Match settings in the Job Description and ensure at least one attribute has been configured and saved.
- The candidate has not yet been evaluated and is displaying an Unmatched status. Manually run AI Match to generate results for the candidate.
- The candidate is displaying a Needs Rematch status. Re-run AI Match to refresh the candidate's results using the latest attribute configuration.
Q: How confident should I be in AI Match results?
A: AI Match is designed to speed up your review, not replace it. Results are a strong starting point but should always be considered alongside your own assessment of the candidate. When in doubt, click into the evidence — seeing exactly what the AI found helps you decide whether to trust or override a result.
Q: Can candidates see that AI Match was used to evaluate them?
A: Candidates are informed at the time of application through a consent statement that AI-assisted review may be used in the hiring process. They do not see their individual AI Match results or attribute breakdown.
Q: Does AI Match support multiple languages?
A: Attributes are always generated in English, but AI Match recognizes job descriptions written in other languages and generates attributes based on the content. In addition, resumes and applications written in languages other than English are recognized and analyzed by AI Match.
